In 1912, the bustling boom town of Seattle was expanding from it’s roots in Pioneer Square. The new Pike Place Market had just opened five years earlier and already buildings of reinforced cement were making their way north. There was a demand for retail space that wasn’t just for mining supplies. Residents wanted a place for the arts and Bebb & Gould provided a piano practice studio with a music hall on the top two floors.
Fischer Studio Building is a beauty and allows us to enjoy its Venetian Gothic designs within its ivory colored glazed terra-cotta facade. Sitting on 3rd Avenue between Pine & Pike you’ll find 10’ ceilings, open space and marble reminiscent of New York architecture. The 8-story complex was completed in 1915 and was converted to 29 condominium by architect Ralph Anderson in the early 80′s. It’s a rarity to find one these homes available on the market.
Looking closely at the top two floors and the cornice you’ll find interesting masks, diamonds, fleur-de-lis and fluted pilasters.
