First Hill

There are many famous names associated with the ten neighborhoods of Seattle. Maynard of Pioneer Square, Bell of Belltown and Denny of the Triangle to count just a few. But what of names like Boeing, Carkeek and Frye? Where did the famed airplane manufacturer, prominent builder/contractor and the successful meat packer and art collector call home? In which condominium did local philanthropist Patsy Collins (Bullitt) reside?

First Hill Neighborhood is named for being the first hill one comes to when traveling east from downtown. It was the site of the first King County Courthouse which caused problems for lawyers having to climb up the slope from their offices further west. It rose to residential popularity in the 1890’s as a convenient location to downtown but secluded enough for a sense of retreat.

Bounded on the west by I-5, on the north by Pike, on the south by Main and on the east by Broadway and Boren it’s positioned nicely at the crest with excellent views.
