When Seattle was first settled, the streets were mapped to aligned with the shores of Elliott Bay. Once the city began to spread it was pointed out by a trained surveyor and his brother that the roads further north and east needed to be square with the compass. These men were present at the beginning of this frontier town so their words were heeded. It was made so and the slicing artery was named after them…Denny Way.
Denny Triangle resembles North Carolina in shape and in function. It acts as the same quasi keystone between neighbors; this time between South Lake Union to the north, Belltown to the west, Retail Core to the south and Capitol Hill to the east. There’s change happening in this modern and professional zone that’s represented by more than the Whole Foods store. Four of its six condo buildings are less than five years old. There’s also six new communities planned for development.
Keep your eyes on this important area as it helps to hold the personality of Seattle together for the future.
