Capitol Hill

A massive cauldron developing a rich array of creativity. Small performing arts theaters dot the landscape as do music venues. The atmosphere is thick with culture and counterculture. Nowhere in the city is the aura so ripe for minds to open in artistic ways. It’s also the base for Seattle’s film-making community and within this mix there are dwellings ranging from Mansions to common apartments that stand shoulder to shoulder in peace.

Capitol Hill neighborhood was known as Broadway Hill until James Moore platted the area naming it for his wife’s hometown neighborhood in Denver and for a hope that the state’s capitol would be moved here from Olympia. Clean lines create it’s boundaries to the west, (I-5), east, (Broadway) and south (Pike) and a jagged north border around Aloha. It’s the diversity of it’s citizens that make the district so appealing. The reputed center of Seattle’s LGBT life, this neighborhood shows it’s pride and energy in an unabashed fashion.

Something is always buzzing in this highly enthusiastic and eccentric environment.
